CTP insurance estimates

In New South Wales, Queensland and the ACT, CTP is bought separately from an insurer, so it is not in the rego fee. The other five states include it in their registration. Fair comparison needs a CTP price for these three, so the amounts below are examples. Replace them with your own quote, or enter 0 to leave CTP out.

How this is worked out

Yearly figures are 12 months of registration for a privately used car, including each state’s vehicle tax, levies and any CTP built into the fee. Weekly is the yearly figure divided by 52.
Where CTP is bought separately (NSW, Queensland, the ACT), the estimate you entered is added to the yearly figure.
“To buy” is the transfer fee plus stamp duty for a car that is already registered, paid on time. Plates, safety checks and first-registration charges are not included, so use the state calculator for those.
The NSW $100 private-use discount is applied. Hybrid duty concessions and motorcycles are not covered here. Use the state calculators for those.
